Al-Nisa magazine:

This is a quarterly magazine in both Arabic and English languages. It is aiming at raising awareness about women's rights amongst the Middle Eastern communities through articles , reports , analysis and researches . This magazine has became a forum for women and men who strive to defend the human rights of women from the Middle East. People are writing from all over the world to Al-Nisa. Violence against Women - Women against Violence

In partnership with Kurdistan Refugee Women's Organisation-KRWO

Providing advice, outreach and information for Middle Eastern women facing domestic violence and honour based violence. Support and information are available in different languages to:

  • Make Referral and signposting to specialist services such as legal , health and housing.
  • Help women to rebuild their lives, self esteem and confidence through training and    peer support.
  • Stay informed about new laws and legislations.

Combating Honour Based Violence Forum

This Is a new Forum established in 2006 hosted by MECWR to bring together representatives from women's and human rights organisations, refugee and community groups who are concerned about women at risk of “Honour” based violence in their communities.

We aim together to influence positive changes in policies and develop services for women at risk of "Honour" based violence. The forum continues to recruit new members. If you would like to join the forum or need more information, please contact Gona.

Educational and Training Programs

  • Women’s Rights Advocacy Training

The aim of this training is to support members of Middle Eastern communities to build skills and knowledge to enable them to advocate for women’s rights in their communities. Sessions include presentation skills, effective campaigning, communication with media, IT skills, fundraising and legal rights of women in UK.

  • Seminars and Conferences

Aimed at raising awareness about issues facing Middle Eastern women. These events are mainly targeted at voluntary and statutory service providers for women facing violence.

Lobbying and campaigning

We actively lobby the government to make positive changes in policies relevant to Middle Eastern women’s Rights in the UK.
